About the Retreat.
Have you ever wondered why more doesn't happen when you pray to a loving, infinitely powerful Jesus who said, "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do for you" (Jn 14:13)?   Although there are many explanations (e.g. we are praying for the wrong thing), the most common reason is that our image of God is not loving enough.  I never was healed of my perfectionism when I prayed for healing to a God who was saying “earn my love by more perfectionism, "Be perfect as my heavenly Father is perfect."   We can only be healed to the degree that our image of God is healed.   To the degree that our image of God is distorted we are praying to our own false God and not letting the real, loving God touch us.  But our image of a loving God gets distorted daily as we see bad things happen to good people, get hurt ourselves, get stuck in sin and compulsions, find ourselves disappointed with the church and feel more shamed than loved when we hear the scriptures preached.  This retreat will help us discover where our image of God is distorted and begin the lifetime process of healing it so God can finally be God for us.
